The journey of art has been the story of my life, one that has spanned over 45 years of passion, exploration, and growth. Born on New Year's Day in 1958, I was welcomed into a world that would soon become a canvas for my dreams and creativity. Growing up in a family where art was as natural as breathing, my initiation into this vibrant world began early, in my hometown of Wardha, Maharashtra. By the time I was in class VII, I was already coloring wooden toys, a small but significant step toward the artist I would become.
My formal education in art started in 1977 when I joined Chitrakala Mahavidyalaya in Nagpur to study applied arts. Those years were transformative, filled with learning, experimentation, and a deepening love for the craft. In 1982, I graduated with a gold medal, a milestone that marked the beginning of my professional journey as an applied artist.
For many years, I worked in the commercial art industry, starting in an advertising agency before moving on to the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO). My work as a commercial artist was rewarding, but there was always a creative urge within me that pulled me toward fine arts. IFFCO recognized and supported my creative talents, and in 1994, I was honored with the best employee award.
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of trying my hand at various mediums - canvas, acrylics, watercolors, pastel colors, and more recently, pen and ink. The latter has become a personal favorite, using microtip colored pens on specialized paper to create intricate and expressive works. Nature has been my constant muse, its elements subtly woven into my compositions and abstract art. Trees, birds, animals, and landscapes often find their way into my work, sometimes hidden, waiting to be discovered by the keen observer.
One of the greatest responsibilities and privileges of my career has been my involvement with the art treasure of one of the world's largest corporate organizations. I've been entrusted with maintaining, acquiring, and preserving this collection, a role that has allowed me to meet some of India's most eminent artists. These interactions have been invaluable, offering me insights and lessons that have enriched my own artistic journey.
Looking back, I see a life filled with color, creativity, and the constant pursuit of artistic expression. My work with primary colors - red, blue, and yellow - reflects a belief that simplicity can be powerful, that common hues can communicate deep emotions and ideas. I am, at heart, a man of primary colors, finding beauty in their purest forms.
This is my story, a journey of nearly half a century, where every stroke of the brush, every line drawn, has been a step toward understanding and expressing the world around me. Art is not just what I do; it is who I am.
